Things to do

  • Mona – Museum of Old and New Art – This place doesn’t look much on the outside but is quite outstanding once inside. Whilst I found some of the artworks almost disturbing, it’s collection of art was world class. They also have markets on the MONA lawn through the summer months – where you can listen to live music, eat amazing food and just simply relax – http://www.mona.net.au
  • Zoodoo Wildlife Park – This was the most interactive wildlife park (or zoo for that matter) that I have ever been to! We fed lions, watched feeds for the tasmanian devils and meerkats, went on a “safari” that let us hand feed camels, emus and ostridges, and alpacas. After all that we were free to roam and hand feed amongst kangaroos and wallabies, ponies, deers, sheep, goats and chickens. Great Fun! – http://www.zoodoo.com.au
  • Tahune Skywalk – This skywalk shows us why Tasmania is just so beautiful. In the clean fresh are you walk amongst the tree tops, with beautiful fresh views! (If your a local in Hobart your entry is free!!!) – http://www.discovertasmania.com/attraction/tahuneforestairwalkandvisitorcentre
  • Playgrounds: there is a nice little one on the Esplanade in Lindisfarne (near rowing club) and some awesome fenced in ones at Marieville Esplanade (Sandy Bay), Long Beach (Sandy Bay) and Dru Point (Margate). The one at Dru Point also has a bike riding area with traffic lights and if you stop at the Margate train for some pancakes you can make a day of it.
  • Farm Gate Markets – These small markets located near Elizabeth street run on a Sunday – and have some beautiful local fresh produce, and a fresh sushi stall that serves freshly grounded real wasabi!!! They make your hand rolls to order on the spot!!! – http://farmgatemarket.com.au
